1st year of Master's Degree in Management & International Business
Objectives
The Master’s degree in Management and International Business (MCI) offers a first year Master’s degree and two possible programmes in Master 2: International Management and Marketing, or International Human Resources Management.
The aim is to train senior managers with an understanding and cross-disciplinary approach to international business and operations, experts in marketing or HRM, and capable of making management decisions in organisations that are developing or wish to develop internationally.
This degree is a continuation of the selective International Management third year Bachelor’s degree at IAE Angers.
It is aimed at students who have completed this course or who have applied on the basis of their applications, and who wish to pursue a career in international marketing or HRM, or in international and multicultural organisations.
International Management Master’s degrees are high level programmes with strong connection to international market organizations. In this way, it benefits from a good reputation in the business world.
Expertise
The programme as a whole has a strong international focus, with 70% of courses in English in the first year, numerous opportunities to spend a semester or a year abroad, international lecturers and the possibility of obtaining a double degree with a Polish partner university.
The MCI Masters programmes are high-level courses based on the Granem laboratory’s management research and built in direct collaboration with organisations operating in international markets.
Content and structure
During the first year Management & International Business programme, our students learn cross-disciplinary skills (with 2 compulsory and one optionnal foreign languages, IT, research methodology...) and fundamentals in international management, with a strong multicultural focus (exchange programme, american month...). This allows them to gradually specialise in one of our two second-year programmes (marketing or human resources management).
The first academic year is divided into 2 semesters. The fall semester runs from mid-September through December with exams in December; and the spring semester from April through June with exams in June. An internship is required (two months minimum between January and March) within a international company or a company engaged in international trade.
The academic year includes 510 hours of teaching (252 hours of lectures and 258 hours of tutorials).
Carreer and opportunities
The first year of the MCI Master’s programme enables students to join one of the two programmes offered in the second year of the Master’s programme.
Students have the opportunity to enter the corporate world as marketing or international HRM experts.
Students wishing to pursue a PhD in Management Sciences can also apply to join a dedicated course (M2 in Consulting and Research at IAE Angers).
Eligibility
All students who successfully complete the third year of Bachelor degree in International Management automatically qualify for the first year in Management and International Business.
Direct entry on the M1 level is possible for candidates who provide a Bachelor degree or any other diploma with an equivalent of 180 ECTS.
Applicants must prove an English language proficiency and certify by submitting a language certificate such as TOEFL or TOEIC.
Citizens of Anglo-Saxon countries do not have to provide evidence of language proficiency.
All previous transcripts of records along with a CV and a cover letter will be asked when applying. Students will be called in for an interview.
French students, non-exchange international students and international students non affected by the «Etudes en France» procedure must apply through Mon master platform.
Non-exchange International students affected by the «Etudes en France» procedure must apply through Campus France platform.
Exchange students must go through their institution to be nominated.
Tuiton fees
The University of Angers is part of the French state university system. Regular students currently have to pay €250 for the entire academic year in 2024-2025. Students also have to pay for the additional Student Life and Campus Contribution (€103) that aims to give more social, health, cultural and sports support to students.
